The new processor SPARC64 a 25% performance of their predecessors

Company Fujitsu and Sun Microsystems continue to improve processor family SPARC64. The quad-model of a new generation of SPARC64 VII, calculated on the clock speeds of up to 2.88 GHz, according to developers, a quarter of the productivity of their predecessors.

The new processors clocked at 2.88 GHz, designed for servers SPARC Enterprise M8000 and M9000 (incidentally, M9000 is one of the components of a supercomputer created by Fujitsu for a Japanese university). Model, clocked frequency of 2.53 GHz, will be available in the server configuration SPARC Enterprise M4000 and M5000.

Simultaneously with the increase in productivity could reduce the power consumption of processors. The transition to more advanced production technology has lowered power consumption SPARC64 VII by 44%. Full compatibility with previously released processors facilitates the upgrade of servers, SPARC Enterprise, already in use.
